Pokémon GO has just received a small surprise update, supplemented by a curious new feature: Pokémon "Lucky"
Most things in Pokémon GO are adapted from things that already exist in the game. Pokémon universe. Items like incense, lucky eggs and others exist in the main Pokémon series (though what these elements do is a little different in GO)
Lucky Pokémon, as much as I know, is a brand new concept.
So, what are they? And how are they different from the existing Shiny Pokémon?
Bright Pokémon are rare variations of existing Pokémon with colors that differ from the norm. You can press your 398th Dratini, for example, only to find that it's bright pink instead of the standard blue. You can randomly press a minun to find that he has green ears instead of blue, or an aron with red eyes instead of blue. It's a fun way to keep players on Pokemon even after their Pokédex is technically complete. The differences are only profound, however; beyond visual change, Bright Pokémon are usually functionally identical to their non-brilliant version.
The new Pokémon "Lucky" meanwhile, does not look very different (except you look at them in your collection). They have, however, a small functional advantage: feeding them requires less dust. In other words, you will be able to make them stronger faster and with less work.
How do you get them? By trading. While people are still working on the exact mechanics, it seems that the unlucky Pokémon have a chance to become lucky Pokémon when they are traded from one player to the other. According to Niantic, the chances of a Pokémon becoming "lucky" after an increase in trade depending on the time that it was initially captured.
And for collectors: yes, for better or for worse, "Lucky Pokémon" are now a category in Pokédex. Niantic just added the trading to Pokémon GO a month ago, and it's a clever way to get players to worry about trading even after they've already caught everything what to catch.
