Porsche unveiled the Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S 2020 at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles after months of speculation about the future of the car. What was unveiled was largely expected: the car retains the same basic shape that it had for decades, this time with a wider track and a turbocharged 6-engine that develops 443 horsepower, up from 23 hp compared to the previous generation.

When it arrives at dealerships next year, the Carrera S and 4S will only be available with an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, although Porsche has announced it will be detailing a manual transmission later. The new 992 will accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with AWD, almost half a second faster than the previous Carrera 4S. The rear-wheel drive Carrera S can do the same in 3.5 seconds, an improvement of 0.4 seconds compared to the latest version. The choice of the Sport Chrono on both models reduces the race in both cars by 0.2 seconds. The cars have a top speed of at least 300 km / h and offer a new "wet mode" that can condition the car to slippery conditions.

The basic Carrera S will cost $ 114,250 when it goes on sale, while the all-wheel drive will add $ 7,600 to the final result.

Inside, the new 911 features a 10.9-inch touch screen, up from 7.0-inch in the previous generation, as well as digital gauges for driver information that accompany a traditional tachometer. . Porsche will offer the Carrera S and 4S with 18-way power seats and adaptive dampers for better handling and cornering.

On the outside, the new 911 takes up most of its predecessors: no crazy changes. The new 911 sports electric door handles (trend in luxury cars nowadays) and a wider 1.77-inch track to accommodate its large 20- or 21-inch wheels. The sheet is entirely aluminum this time for more strength and lighter weight, although Porsche has not specified how much the new car would weigh.

In the rear, the Porsche 911 Carrera S features a unique new taillight layout and a new 911 badge that is reminiscent of previous generations. The inner sporting heritage nods too. The flat dashboard and recessed instruments were borrowed from the 911s of the 1970s.

The new 911 however does not skimp much on the technology. In addition to its larger touch screen and digital instruments, the sports car also features automatic emergency braking as standard, an optional adaptive cruise control and a camera night vision for more security. The infotainment system also uses cloud parking information via Porsche's connectivity suite.
