Galaxy S9 Plus Back in the rain

A new reference released by Twitter's user, Ice Universe, could give us a first glimpse of the power of the future flagship product of Samsung's Galaxy S10 Plus smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus will use the company's new Exynos 9820, a rather complex and unique system-on-chip. It has eight processor cores divided into three groups. Two of the hearts use the ARM Cortex-A75 architecture. Two cores are based on a custom processor architecture designed by Samsung. The last four cores all use the Cortex-A55 architecture and are intended for low-power tasks.

The Exynos 9820 also features a powerful GPU based on the ARM Mali-G76 architecture, with 12 UEs. Samsung has also added an NPU, a specialized processing unit that excels in performing AI-related tasks.

According to Ice Universe, the Galaxy S10 Plus has a score of 325,076 in Antutu Benchmark, which would make it one of the fastest Android smartphones in the world. We must take these results with a pinch of salt, but that would correspond to what we can expect from a new Samsung flagship smartphone. It should also be noted that this would also place the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus with the Exynos SoC behind the Apple iPhone XS, which scored 352,405.

Ice Universe has also released a screenshot showing some of the specifications of the phone. Note the resolution of the phone of 2280×1080. It would be rather strange if it is the real resolution of the Galaxy S10 Plus, the previous Galaxy S9 Plus having a screen with a resolution of 2960×1440. This strange resolution raises additional questions about the legitimacy of published benchmarks.

Samsung is expected to launch its new Galaxy S10 Plus smartphone in early 2019. Until we get our hands on an official Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, we will not be able to say for sure if these criteria are right.
