President Hage Geingob has awarded the honor of the national hero to Namibia's prime minister of foreign affairs, former prime minister and president of the National Assembly, Dr. Theo-Ben Gurirab who died Saturday, July 14, 2018 in Windhoek

The award is in accordance with paragraph (8) of Article 32 of the Namibian Constitution. As a result, he will receive state funeral and will be buried at Heroes Acre National Monument on Saturday . He was 80 years old.
