Microsoft has deployed the latest firmware update for Xbox One owners, offering a few new ways for players to play without a hitch.
The July update includes FastStart innovation announced by Microsoft at E3 2018 in May. It optimizes the ability to play games during the background download, allowing Xbox One owners to dive twice as fast as before.
In an article on Xbox Wire, the company explains: "FastStart works by identifying files to start playing and prioritize downloading these files first, allowing you to quickly switch to a loyalty game while the rest of your title is downloaded in the background. "
You must have a FastStart enabled title to access the new feature, with all English titles in Xbox Games Pass now available. The feature will be very useful for players who have minimal playing time and just want to play.
Elsewhere, Microsoft adds the ability to group games and applications, in an expansion of its existing Pins feature. The Groups feature allows users to collect under a header, which means less scanning to find what you want.
"The groups will appear in My Games and Applications, Home and Guide, so you can access your groups at any given time," writes Microsoft. "Best of all, the groups are linked to your Xbox Live account, so they will sync automatically to several Xbox One consoles, so we started with a group that should be very familiar to you – your pines!"

Elsewhere in the update, there are more search options. Pressing the Y option will bring up the search box and the virtual keyboard from anywhere in the dashboard.
The company also adds enhancements from Share Controller to the Mixer platform, as well as a full-screen broadcast from a compatible webcam. Finally, Microsoft has improved the overall quality of video broadcasting and the stability of these broadcasts. "You will now benefit from improved performance when broadcasting a bandwidth-intensive multiplayer mode," says the firm.
