WINDHOEK – The Outapis City Council has appointed Emmanuel Shikongo, Regional Secretary of the Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) in the Omusati region, as Chairman of the Local Authority Leadership Committee. .
Local authorities proceeded to the election and annual swearing of the bureau members last week at the city council chamber.
Shikongo, who was previously a regular member of the board's board of directors, now replaces Lilja Katrina Eilo as president.

Eilo is now the deputy mayor.

According to sources, Selma Asina would have retained her position as mayor.
The city's general manager, Nashilongo Ananias, was contacted for a comment. Former deputy mayor Matheus Ndeshitila was elected as an ordinary council member.

The newly approved president is replaced by Matheus Endjala.
Victoria Aggripina Nengo is a member of the board of directors, while Namupa Agatha Shalongo becomes a substitute member. He added that re-elected and newly elected members were sworn in by Outapis magistrate Karel Otto Muyeghu, who was presiding over the elections.
