WINDHOEK – Elizabeth Geises, Mayor of Khorixas, was removed from office and replaced by Laurens // Hoebeb, who will also replace her as a City Councilor once the office has been sworn in.

On Sunday night, councilors from Khorixas City Council and the Kunene Regional Party Regional Executive Committee were ordered to withdraw before the Khorixas District Executive Committee decided to dismiss Geises not only as mayor. but also as an advisor.

A member of the District Executive Committee (DEC) told this reporter that Geises apologized for accepting the opposition mayor's nomination, UDF, last November, and that she was ready to accept any decision taken against him.
She has sworn to remain a member of Swapo.

Although Swapo's regional executive committee in Kunene accepted Geises' apology, the Khorixas center was provocative and said it was maintaining its decision to fire Geises for allegedly working for UDF.
Ollie / Gowaseb and Esna! Haradoes, members of Khorixas DEC, were the only ones who did not support the dismissal of Geises.
