The Grade 10 children at the Desert Fruit Kids Primary Crib celebrated this week their graduation, stating that they were ready to enter a primary school next year. This is the second group of Grade 10 students who have completed their pre-primary education at Desert Fruit.
The date farmer in Ariamsvlei District, Desert Fruit Namibia, has a large workforce whose children must be prepared for primary school. To this end, a kindergarten has been created on the farm with the intention of preparing the younger ones for a smooth transition from kindergarten to primary school. Children who graduated this week are ready to enter freshman at Ariamsvlei Primary School next year.
School Principal Forbes said she was looking forward to welcoming new students to the Desert Fruit Kids nursery, adding that last year's group was well prepared and had found its way in the first year .
Suzette Smit, the director of the nursery, said she offered the children of Desert Fruit a safe haven during the day when their parents worked on the farm.
