The youngest dentist in Walvis brings a smile to the community

At 28, Charmaine Kandombo opened her own dental practice in Walvis Bay, making her the city's youngest established dentist.

The dental office officially opened on December 17, 2018. His practice is the seventh dental company in the coastal city.

In an interview with The Namibian recently, Kandombo said that opening his own practice has come with many sacrifices. After graduating from Walvis Bay Private High School in 2008, Kanomdomb continued his studies at Western Cape University in 2014 before returning to his hometown to serve his community.

"After graduating, I worked for three years and nine months in a private practice in Walvis Bay, before opening CNK Dental Practice. My dream was to own my own practice. I did not stop to take this giant uncomfortable step by fear. I've learned that when you have a dream and a purpose, it will burn in you, despite the fear and self-doubt that can creep in. I prayed about it, I consulted with my family and my career mentor, Dr. Eullium Scholtz, "she says.

She finally regained courage and confidence and decided to take the plunge. Kandombo says that it was not very easy and that she sacrificed a lot.

"I have taken on a lot of challenges. From the request for funds to the various registrations necessary for the creation of a dental office. I had to think seriously about renovations and the appointment of qualified staff. It took months of planning and execution. I have a new level of respect for business owners, it's not easy, "she admits.

She said that when the dental office opened for the first time, the community responded very well.

"Many people have been excited about this openness since the moment I officially announced the opening of a practice.

I was full the first day and busy since, for a new practice. I am a child of Walvis Bay, so it is comforting to see how my community has supported me. I am so blessed, she says.

In addition to her parents, teachers, God and her mentors, she recognizes the community of Walvis Bay, who continues to motivate and support her throughout her journey.

The practice is currently composed of young women, which fascinates Kandombo. She is committed to ensuring that young women are noticed and empowered around the world.

She says she is aware that most people, especially children, have a phobia for dentists, but she strives to create a calm and relaxed environment to change the general perception of the dental chair. .

The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and features an uniquely designed and uniquely designed interior to create a spa-like atmosphere, with relaxing music in the background.

This, she said, helps make people more relaxed and is why they always leave with a smile. Special attention was also paid to the children's areas, Kandombo, which is particularly fond of children. The practice also provides time for preschool age groups to visit.

Children receive a free exam and an education on oral health.

They receive reports to give to their parents when dentists detect abnormalities.
