Tom Hanks in discussion to play Geppetto in Disney's "Pinocchio"

HOLLYWOOD – Actor Tom Hanks is currently in talks to play the paternal woodcarver Geppetto in the live adaptation of the classic animated movie "Pinocchio" from 1940, according to Variety.

The famous children's story is centered on a wooden puppet created by Geppetto and named Pinocchio. Pinocchio, whose tendency to lie lengthens his nose, dreams of becoming a real boy.

The film is directed by Paul King, with production by Andrew Miano and Chris Weitz, reported Variety.
