Utilities sector registers more than 4,000 promotions

The Utilities Sector recorded 4,226 promotions in 2016 and 2017 representing a 360% increase in the number of promotions registered during the previous corresponding review period.

Women accounted for 43% of promoted employees, 12% of whom were promoted to management positions.

The sector recorded a total of 9,176 cases of terminations of employment representing a 224% increase in the number of public servants who left their jobs in 2016 and 2017 according to the 2016-2017 Annual Report of the Commissions. employment equity.

"The increase should be understood in relation to the improvement and therefore the increase in the number of reports received from the public service during the reporting period. officials whose contracts of employment had ended, while 1% were disabled and 1% of non-Namibians, "the report said.

The report also indicates that 73% of civil servants left their jobs for unspecified reasons, followed by non-renewal of employment contracts, 13% and 11% of resignations.

The majority of non-Namibians (50%) left their jobs due to the non-renewal of their contracts.

In addition, the sector reported having trained 11,261 employees nationwide, representing an increase of 191% over the previous review period, the report said.

Women accounted for 57% of trained employees and only 0.6% of trained public servants were persons with disabilities, while 1% were previously racially favored.
