Sam Ricketts challenged his Wrexham players to go out and create their own piece of FA Cup folklore.
The Dragons will entertain Newport County on Saturday night (send shot of 20 hours) during a clash that will take place in the second round of all Welsh.
Wrexham has been synonymous with giant FA Cup kills inspired by their illustrious story, the most famous of which is their victory over Arsenal in 1992: Mickey Thomas and Steve Watkin should cancel the opener by Alan Smith.
While Saturday's fight against a team in fourth place in Ligue 2 does not have the same appeal, Wrexham knows that the win could see them win a tie against a Premier League team or championship third round.
"It's the beauty of any cup competition and the FA Cup is the best club competition in the world because it brings links like these that would not happen normally," Ricketts said.
"It captures the imagination of people, a 100% Welsh tie, north against south, that's all the FA Cup is.
"(Wrexham has) a long history, I think Mickey Thomas's goal is what people remember most.
"This is one of the most publicized and every year in the FA Cup, it is shown, one because of the goal and two because of the surprise. And that's part of the club, it's part of the story and what we said to the players, is that it's fantastic, that's why the club is as big as it is It is, but it's an opportunity for them to put themselves in folklore.
"There's a good saying that" history applies to books, the future belongs to us ", and that's exactly what this game is. This is an opportunity for players to show their talent on the national scene.
"It's live on TV, it's a game that a lot of people will notice and watch. So it's an opportunity to show how good they are as individuals, but especially as a team. "
But if Ricketts wants his team to impress him, he is not ahead of himself and recognizes that, despite the tie at home, his players are still outsiders.
Newport, who regained his spot in the Football League at the expense of Wrexham following his victory against the Dragons in the 2013 Conference Dams final, is currently in fourth place in League Two, away automatic promotion slots.
Ricketts added, "It will be an excellent tie, we are not favorites, we are at home, but we are not favorites.
"Newport is doing very well in the league above us, so they will come naturally here in the hope of winning. What we do know is that we are more than capable of achieving an excellent performance and that this offers a great chance to win the match.
"Obviously, there is a difference (between the teams), they play in the standards above us every week, so they are used to that. But listen, we are doing really well, we have good players and if we put a performance as if we were more than capable, then we would have a great chance to win the game.
"But they are the league above us, and they are not at the bottom of the hierarchy, they are at the top and are doing well, which will make them favorites.
"We started the season very well, we lost three in 24 games, which is excellent in every respect, we're doing well in the league, averaging an average of two points per game, is comparable to anyone in this country so we are happy to know that we are able to win the match, but they will come here as favorites. "
Bad luck in the cup however, there is always one at every turn, so why not at the racetrack?
"It's the philosophy with which we must enter," added the boss of the Dragons.
"We have to trust each other, we can win the match, there are no two ways to do it. Our performances this year are excellent, even against East last weekend when we were beaten, our level of performance was just above.
"The control and discipline that the team has shown was excellent and we will try to replicate this again, nothing more than what we have done many times this year, just to replicate our own performances. "
