NASA accepts the names to send to Mars on the next mobile

NASA wants to launch its next rover on Mars next summer, with a planned landing in February 2021. The space agency gives people the opportunity to have their name inscribed on the rover (engraved on a chip). The March 2020 rover will lay the foundation for a possible human exploration of Mars. The names will be really small

In addition to their registered name on the rover, people will receive a souvenir boarding card and "loyalty points".

A NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's micro-device lab will use an electron beam to stencil the names proposed by the public, NASA said. The names will be engraved on a silicon chip in a tiny text (smaller than the width of a human hair). Thus, NASA could easily put more than a million names on a single chip the size of a penny. One or more tokens will sit under a glass cover on the mobile.

Insight lander lands on Mars
NASA did the same by sending its InSight lander to Mars, which landed on the planet last year. More than two million names are on InSight.

The March 2020 rover is part of NASA's grand plan to send humans back to the moon and then to the red planet.
