NASA identified a disturbing air hole in Jupiter's clouds and admitted that she could not explain why the abyss had appeared.

The Juno probe flew over the strange black dot orbiting the huge giant gas planet.

He seems to be sitting in the middle of a "vortex" and should be deep enough, although his true characteristics are not known at this stage.

NASA wrote, "What is this black spot about Jupiter? Nobody is sure.

"During NASO's last Juno tour around Jupiter, the robotic spacecraft imaged an unusually dark cloud, informally nicknamed the Abyss.

"The surrounding clouds show that the Abyss is at the center of a vortex.

Since the dark features of Jupiter's atmosphere tend to extend deeper than the light lines, the Abyss is perhaps the deep hole it seems – but with no more evidence that remains conjecture.

"The Abyss is surrounded by a complex of winding clouds and other swirling storm systems, some of which are surmounted by light-colored, high-altitude clouds. The image presented was captured last month while Juno only passed about 15,000 kilometers above Jupiter's clouds. "

Jupiter, on the other hand, is a mysterious gas giant covered with clouds and perhaps not even having a surface on which humans can stand.

These two worlds may seem totally different, but earlier this year, NASA released images showing that some processes work the same way on both planets.

"By interpreting what we see elsewhere in the solar system and in the universe, we are still comparing phenomena we already know on Earth," said Norman Kuring of the Nasa Goddard Space Flight Center.

"We work from the familiar to the unknown."

You may not immediately notice the similarity between the Earth and the gas giant Jupiter.

But what NASA points out are "whirlwinds" in Jupiter's atmosphere that look like whirlwinds in the Baltic Sea.

The "flow of fluids on both planets is governed by the same laws of physics," NASA explained, which means "a whirlwind on Earth looks a lot like a whirlwind on Jupiter."

"These are fluids circulating on a rotating body," added Kuring.

"All the complexity comes from beauty, whether it's images of Earth, Jupiter or your cup of coffee when you pour the cream"

It is believed that Jupiter has three cloud layers, the outermost being represented in the image of NASA.

The photo of the Earth shows a green proliferation of phytoplankton "tracing the edges of a vortex in the Baltic Sea".

NASA has stated that "very different planets display similar patterns" because they are "governed by the same laws of physics".
