A NASA leader called to lead the lunar mission strategy of 2024 "Artemis" resigned after Congress failed to support the initiative, reports Reuters. Mark Sirangelo, special assistant to NASA's chief Jim Bridenstine, left after only six weeks of work. Sirangelo "has chosen to pursue other opportunities," said Bridenstine in a statement released Thursday. His departure comes after a NASA proposal to reorganize within the agency the creation of a new direction focused on a "sustainable lunar campaign" to be rejected by Congress. According to sources quoted by Reuters, Sirangelo was reportedly escorted out of NASA headquarters in Washington after his resignation.
