The US NASA space agency released Wednesday a first image showing the crash site of the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet.

The photo, in black and white, reveals a dark spot of about 10 feet wide where the spacecraft struck the moon.

NASA also published a photo of the site before the crash for comparison purposes.

Last month, Beresheet was just minutes away from making Israel the fourth country in the world to successfully land on the moon when contact with the spacecraft was lost and crashed on the surface of the moon .

Despite the success of the Space Shuttle's seven-week trip to date, the company was considered a partial failure due to the forced landing. Beresheet's main backer and SpaceIL chairman, Morris Kahn, has since announced that the "Beresheet 2" work would begin immediately. "
