NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center took to Twitter to share an image of a galaxy that has now surprised people. Captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, it’s called NGC 1614.

“This eccentric shaped galaxy (NGC 1614) on fire with activity has been captured by @NASAHubble. The galaxy resides approximately 200 million light years from Earth and is nestled in the southern constellation Eridanus (the river), ”the caption given by NASA Goddard to this incredible image reads.

The image was also sharing from NASA’s main Twitter account. “Special, eccentric and beautiful: this is what we call this galaxy that dazzles about 200 million light years away. Captured by @NASAHubble, these are actually two galaxies merging into one, ”they tweeted.

In addition to the tweet, they shared a link to a NASA article which details that “active galactic fusion” is the reason for the galaxy’s peculiar appearance.

Since it was shared, the post has won over people and their comments attest to that.

“Groovy,” wrote one Twitter user. “Wow, so great to see that. NASA, you are an eye in space for humanity, ”said another. “It’s so amazing to imagine that … thanks to NASA for sharing the image,” tweeted a third. “Handsome,” wrote a fourth and many agreed.
