NASA’s Perseverance Mars Rover Provides New Image of Red Planet, showing a plume of smoke from which its descent stage had a surface impact with Mars. One of the rover’s Hazcams captured the image, Perseverance tweeted on Wednesday.
“A moment of respect for the downhill stage,” Perseverance tweeted. “Within two minutes of bringing myself safely to the surface of Mars, I caught the plume of smoke on one of my Hazcams due to its intentional impact on the surface – an act that protected as well as the scientific integrity of my landing site.

You can watch a video of the rover coming down from the descent stage on the rocky planet here. Perseverance has already returned sounds of mars and showed a panorama of the red planet.
Perseverance will look for signs of old microbial life; collect dust and rock samples: test a helicopter; and study the climate and geology of Mars.
