Sunday’s race start on the Talladega Superspeedway was delayed due to rain.
Originally scheduled to start at 2 p.m., the YellaWood 500 is being delayed due to rain showers. NASCAR jet dryers rush to prepare the track for the 40-car race in Lincoln, Alabama. As the rain continues to pour down the 2.66 mile oval, drivers anxiously await the green flag. The second round of 12 was unpredictable at the start, but a slippery track could increase the chances of a big crash and ruinous wreckage in the championship.
According to NASCAR policy, a race will not start without a plan to reach the advertised distance. NBC has a tight TV window due to the highly anticipated game between the Buccaneers and the Patriots. If they can’t start in time to finish the race, the YellaWood 500 will likely be postponed.
Here is all the information you need to keep up with YellaWood 500 updates.
