Details:

Andy Parker, the father of a murdered television journalist Alison parker filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against Facebook. The complaint raises questions about Facebook’s role in authorizing the video of the moment of the death of that of Alison Parker August 26, 2015 murder to post and repost on the network. The complaint was prepared by the Georgetown Law Clinic. Parker will give details of the FTC filing and answer questions from reporters at a press conference with the details below. Last year, Mr. Parker and the Georgetown Law Clinic filed a similar complaint against Google / Youtube, which is ongoing.

At August 26, 2015 Alison Parker and her cameraman Adam ward were shot by a gunman while conducting a live television interview at Virginia. The video shows the moment of Ms Parker’s death. The Parker family, for obvious reasons, do not want the video to be posted on Facebook or any other platform. Facebook’s response to requests to remove the video has not been adequate, as stated in the complaint.

At the press conference, Mr. Parker and his lawyer will discuss their complaint and what they are asking Facebook to do and they will answer questions from the press. Mr. Parker has testified before Congress on similar issues in the past and hopes to testify again in the near future.
