NBA rumors: Anthony Davis wears the No. 3 Lakers jersey next season

A few weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James, was planning to warmly welcome his new team-mate Anthony Davis in the form of his No. 23 jersey. Davis wore No. 23 each season of the season. NBA, and James would return to number 6 – the number that he wore in international match, in practice and during the Miami Heat – so that his new teammate could stay with his number of choice.

Then … Well, things came up against a problem. Nike would have interfered, saying that if James changed for this season, he would already need too much financial losses on jerseys No. 23 James, so Davis could not accept this figure before the 2020-21 season. (as soon as possible).

So much for Davis welcome photo:

So, with the only NBA number he's ever seen, not an option for this season, it looks like Davis is going back to school, going back to a number he said on Instagram – and in a recent interview – that he has not worn since primary school:

If the number 3 on a big guy seems a little strange, well, you're not the only one:

The only other problem? Jared Dudley had already committed to wearing number 3 next season, a situation to which he mocked on Twitter:

But, very seriously, it makes sense that, since Davis was a guardian until a rapid growth towards the end of his career in high school, Davis would have an affinity for a number that traditionally belongs to the guards. What will be interesting to see is if it will be held next season or if he and James will eventually finish their original number change. It will probably depend a lot on how this year goes, because if Davis has many iconic moments as Lakers, number 3, he may not want to fix something that does not break.
