BISMARCK, ND (National Guard) – The North Dakota National Guard recently placed approximately 65 members of the Guard on COVID-19 duty to support the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH).
About 50 of these Guard members will support NDDoH’s COVID-19 contact identification efforts while another 15 will support Bismarck State Laboratory.
Members of the Guard will be on active duty with orders under the authority of FEMA (502f). These periods of service are scheduled at least until December 31.
“As always, I applaud the resilience and willingness of our Citizen-Soldiers and Citizen-Airmen to serve our communities in times of need,” said Major-General Al Dohrmann, ND adjutant general. “The support of our families and employers continues to be paramount to our ability to successfully respond to the call of duty.”
The ND National Guard began its COVID-19 service on March 16, 2020. Last November, the ND National Guard assessed 67,495 person-days, surpassing the record 67,264 person-days worked in response to flooding across the country. of the State of 2011, making it the largest and longest-running state mobilization in history. Currently, we are on the 552nd day of COVID-19 support service with over 121,415 person-days dedicated to this mission.
Including operational and administrative support, approximately 80 ND Guard members are currently on active duty for this mission.
