Forecasters warn the Hudson Valley could be on hold for a major snowstorm early next week.
As of this writing, The Weather Channel predicts Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties will see 4 to 8 inches of snow on Monday with a chance of about 1 inch more snow on Tuesday.
Dutchess, Ulster and Sullivan counties are expected to receive 2 to 6 inches of snow on Monday and almost an inch more snow on Tuesday, according to The Weather Channel on Friday morning.
The National Weather Service released a report on dangerous weather forecasts for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
“It is possible that a coastal storm will bring 6 inches or more of snow to the area from Sunday night to Tuesday. In addition, strong northeast winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion will be possible. At this time, there is still a fair amount of uncertainty with the low track and exact timing to be precise with the details, ”says the National Weather Service in its Hazardous Weather Outlook for Orange Counties, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook has also been issued for the counties of Dutchess and Ulster.
“A slowly evolving coastal storm system approaching from the south may bring accumulated snowfall to parts of the region early next week. Stay tuned for further updates,” says the National Weather Service in his Hazardous Weather Outlook for Dutchess and Ulster counties.
Hudson Valley Weather has not yet made a snowfall forecast, but in its detailed five-day forecast it says “Snow likely … maybe heavy at times” for Monday and “Snow probably … decreasing late in the day “, for Tuesday.
