At the end of the season, a feeling emerged that the 49ers could resume chasing the Giants receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. A month and a half later, this sentiment persists.
The 49ers have been interested in Beckham for almost a year. the only question is whether the giants are ready to pull the trigger. As Jay Glazer's audacious prediction shows in the off-season, the Giants may be ready to do it.
The 49ers hold the second and 36th overall picks in the 2019 draft; overall # 2 would appear to be a high price to pay, perhaps forcing the Giants to send a third or fourth round pick to the 49ers to balance the whole thing.
Last year, the Rams were also interested in trading Beckham. Instead, they entered into a deal for Brandin Cooks. But if the Rams want to make waves in 2019, they could (in theory) drag somebody like catcher Robert Woods to the Giants as part of the package.
Be that as it may, Glazer did not reject the idea of a Beckham exchange imprudently. Beckham remains in play for an exchange (no matter what the Giants say officially), and the 49ers remain on the shortlist of teams that could win it.
