The massive changes that occurred to the organization of the Jets this year continued on Friday when the team announced that the team's chairman, Neil Glat, "was retiring".
Glat took on this role and was in charge of the corporate sales area since 2012. It was not clear what had happened that had led to the change, but the team said that 39, he would now act as a senior adviser.
This is the latest in a series of major changes in Jets management. The team hired Adam Gase as the new head coach in January, and then Joe Douglas as general manager in June.
The Jets have announced their intention to replace Glat in the coming days.
"Neil has led the implementation of many new initiatives and user-friendly offers for fans during his stay with us," said Christopher Johnson, CEO and President of Jets, in a statement. "He has also worked tirelessly on behalf of the organization and for the fans. I appreciate him immensely and thank him for his important contributions and his omnipresent professionalism. We will miss him."
Glat worked in the NFL office before joining the Jets.
"I want to thank the Johnson family for giving me an incredible opportunity to be part of their really special organization," Glat said in a statement. "Woody and Christopher are excellent leaders and have been outstanding mentors for me. I am extremely grateful to them. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the exceptional people who are part of the Jets family.
