Nestlé Prepared Foods recalls non-ready-to-eat hot pepperoni pouches due to possible foreign material contamination

WASHINGTON, January 15, 2021– Nestlé Prepared Foods, a mount. Sterling, Ky. Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The NRTE Frozen Hot Pepperoni Pouches product was manufactured from November 13, 2020 through November 16, 2020. The product has a shelf life of 14 months. The following product is subject to recall: [View Labels (PDF Only)]:

  • 54 oz carton packs containing 12 “Nestlé HOT POCKETS BRAND SANDWICHS: PREMIUM PEPPERONI MADE WITH PIZZA PIZZA AND BEEF GARLIC BUTTER CRUST” with date and batch codes “BEST BEFORE FEB 2022” and codes 0318544624 , 0319544614, 0320544614 and 032614.

The recalled product bears the establishment number “EST. 7721A ”inside the USDA inspection mark. The product was shipped to points of sale across the country.

The problem was discovered when the company received four complaints from consumers about foreign material in the hot pepperoni pouch product.

The company has received a report of a minor oral injury associated with the consumption of this product. FSIS has not received any other reports of injury or illness resulting from the consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare professional.

FSIS is concerned that some products will be frozen and placed in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it. This product must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling companies notify their customers of the recall and that action is taken to ensure the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
