Two divers found a translucent bagpipe with two "flow openings" or "anus" in the Grevelingenmeer. The Anemoon Foundation speaks of "a wonderful sighting". Normally, this bottom animal has an exit aperture.
The divers, one of whom had already 4300 dives, found the special bagpipe on June 21st. Normally, there is a smaller anus next to the large entrance opening (through which the food enters and is filtered). The pocket pipes are common in the salt water of the Wadden Sea, the North Sea and most importantly – in large quantities – in the Zeeland Delta.As humans, they are vertebrates, although you would not say that if you see adult blowpipes.This is only at the larval stage, when they are still swimming freely, that the microscopic pocket tubes have a spine.
Once the larvae have settled on the bottom and developed into adult animals, they lose the spine. What remains is a only anus, like the last part of the digestive tract, except for this example in Grevelingenmeer.
