"Eating a lot of nuts has a positive influence on sperm quality" NOW

Half of the research group kept their own diet and the rest of the men ate 60 grams of extra nuts

The sperm quality of these men was examined after fourteen weeks. In the group that ate more nuts, improved sperm quality was detected.

The number of spermatozoa had increased by 14 percent in walnut eaters. The sperm motility was improved by 6%, the speed of 4% and the shape and size of the spermatozoa by 1%.

Significant

"These numbers are significant," says researcher Nicholas Macklon. "The chances are that they make a positive contribution to a man's fertility."

Macklon points out that there are many other factors that influence this. The actual influence of a diet rich in walnuts is therefore not great. These factors together measure sperm quality and are prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The results of the research are published this week in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition and have already been presented at the Congress of the Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology in Barcelona
