CULEMBORG –
The Andropov family of Culemborg was expelled Saturday morning. They left for Ukraine at 9:30 am by plane. This confirms their lawyer.

On Saturday, the family requested asylum, but this was immediately rejected by the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Family lawyer Frank King has appealed, but the family can not wait in the Netherlands.

Mother Olga and Father Viktor came to the Netherlands 17 years ago. Their children of Arina (5 years old), Denis (10 years old) and Maksim (14 years old) are all born in the Netherlands. They lived at Parc Beaugarde outside Culemborg until suddenly arrested at the end of June and taken to the Soesterberg Detention Center.

Earlier this week, there were noise demonstrations in Culemborg and a picnic and vigil was held Friday at the detention center against the threat of deportation. It did not help. Secretary of State Mark Harbers could allow the family to stay in the Netherlands, but he saw that. A judge also saw no reason to put an end to expulsion on Friday
