For thirty or so students of VMBO Maastricht, all the adventure around their degrees ends in a hissing sound. They do not need to do any other tests after all. Next week, they will be told that they will still receive their diploma. This also applies to eleven students who had a satisfactory week for a social studies recovery test.
The Minister of Education Ingrid van Engelshoven writes this in the House of Representatives. She still has a battle, because the board of examiners has yet to formally establish that the candidates for the exam in question are still successful. This will meet especially for that on July 18th. For many other students, they have to do fewer recovery tests than expected
Invalid
The final exams of 354 students of VMBO Maastricht were declared invalid last month, because the school had disrupted the examinations. They are not caught in the center. For twenty students, it is still true that they have definitely dropped. Initially, it seemed that all the other candidates had to reiterate courses after the summer.
An external committee did additional research on student and subject work over the past week. This has shown that some students meet the final standards. It was not clear before because the school administration was not in order. Overall, this gives a "somewhat more positive" image, according to Van Engelshoven
Aan de bak
For 41 students, the work seems to be over. Apart from the twenty candidates who have already failed, the rest will have to go to work next month. The other recovery tests should be done between August 20th and 24th. The results will follow on August 31, after which a second round will take place in October.
