African swine fever, a highly contagious pork disease, predominates in Eastern European countries, such as Romania. Recently, the disease has also been observed more closely, for example in Belgium
African swine fever is almost always transmitted by wild boar. A pig farmer who detects the disease in his animals just has to clean the farm. For people, the disease is safe.

The Provincial Executive of Overijssel, Hester Maij, reminds RTV Oost that hog farming is of great financial importance to the province. This is why, in addition to intensifying the hunt, she also wants to place warning signs in different languages. We advise you not to leave the pork rolls in the nature. African swine fever is so contagious that a slice of ham can already transmit the disease.
Overijssel has the largest number of hog farms in the Netherlands, after Brabant and Gelderland. Some of them are in a nature reserve where many wild boars live. The spread of swine fever would be disastrous, Ingrid Jansen, president of the Producers Organization Pig Farms, said earlier.
