In the De Geerden Business Park in Velddriel, 80 migrant workers live illegally. This is what the municipality of Maasdriel reports. The migrants were discovered Wednesday afternoon at a security check of the municipality, police and firefighters.
Migrants live in different buildings. One of the buildings was deemed "dangerous", this building is being evacuated in the short term. "It's a fire-safe situation," according to a spokesman for the municipality.
Migrants are transferred "as quickly as possible" to another place of residence. When this happens and where migrants have to go, the municipality does not know it yet. "It depends on employers and housing agencies," the spokesman said. She points out that an urgent request has been made for migrants in unsafe building.
It is not known how long migrant workers are already living in the park of commercial activities.
