The police celebrate the festival Sinterklaas from 2020 without traditional Piet

The police will not want to attend the traditional celebrations of the Zwarte Pieten in Sinterklaas in the offices within two years. No more twisted bushes, red lips, earrings and other stereotyped features.

This will apply to all evenings on internal parcels organized in more than two hundred offices in the Netherlands. What will resemble these celebrations after 2020, it will be in the local units, but for the Pieten painted in plain black, there is no more room for national unity in 2020.

The change of traditional Zwarte Piet has already been used, said the spokesman, based in part on signals from police forces. "We have eyes and ears for colleagues who feel the pain of Zwarte Piet during the internal celebrations in Sinterklaas." The police in Amsterdam have been celebrating Sinterklaas for three years without traditional Piet.

The Kick Out action group Zwarte Piet (KOZP) will demonstrate this year in eighteen municipalities against Zwarte Piet during tours of Sinterklaas. Not the rural areas of Zaanstad, but those of Dokkum, Rotterdam, Groningen and Willemstad.
