The fight against tuberculosis should be approached as a matter of human rights. This is what the participants at the 49th Union World Conference on Respiratory Health in The Hague, where thousands of experts in the field of tuberculosis and other lung diseases from dozens of countries exchange information on these diseases and on their struggle.
"6 million people die of tuberculosis, or tuberculosis, a treatable disease, is a mockery of basic human rights," said Jose Luis Castro, president of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, organizer of the conference.
