Police have a DNA match in the investigation of the very violent rape of a 20-year-old student in Rotterdam. The DNA of the 18-year-old suspect who was arrested earlier this week matched the traces found at the scene of the crime.

The young woman cycled early in the morning to her home in the De Esch district. When she locked her bike, the abuser would have turned a bicycle chain around his neck and then raped her on the street. The victim became so injured that she had to rush to the hospital and was operated on. According to the police, she is now reachable.
