The fire of the RNA waste treatment is under control. In the area around the company on the Nieuwe Pieckelaan, clouds of black smoke appeared in the early evening on Saturday.
A concrete bin with construction waste was on fire. Sparks from the tank landed on a meadow, causing flames.
The cause of the RNA fire is probably due to warm weather. Nobody was hurt.
"A shovel is used to flatten construction waste so that we can make it more humid and extinguish it," says a spokesman for the fire department.
ARN does not want to answer. "I've been instructed to say that you are the first to receive an explanation Monday morning," says the dispatcher.
