Living next to a farm is not unhealthy (on the contrary, says the RIVM) – Drenthe – DVHN.nl

People living near a farm are generally in better health than those who live further away

According to the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) after several years of research.

Farmer's homes are often concerned about the use of pesticides. They fear being fed up

In Midden-Drenthe and Westerveld, for example, people have been protesting for years against the use of agricultural poison in bulb cultivation. But according to the RIVM, local residents do not have to worry. Researchers see no connection between bulb culture and the health of people who live nearby

Parkinson's and fruit growing

RIVM found that people living in corn fields are more likely to suffer from airways, but they do not understand it's coming. They want to investigate further. They also want to study the possible link between Parkinson's disease and fruit culture, eye irritation and fruit culture and leukemia in alternating cereal-beet-potato cultivation.

The results of the RIVM research seem to concern the VVD mill in the municipality of Westerveld. The group's president, Renate Masselink, thinks that the municipality is far too strict for light bulb producers. "First wait for the result of the RIVM survey on the real effects of these drugs," she recently told the mayor and aldermen.
