Jenny Douwes and her supporters have more than 164,000 euros to spend on appeal. This money was collected by crowdfunding in two days, in favor of what is called blocking french fries. Douwes announced last year a highway block with dozens of other Friesians to prevent anti – Black Pete protesters from arriving at Sinterklaas in Dokkum. Friday, 34 Friesians were sentenced to terms of up to 240 hours and a sentence of one month of suspended imprisonment.

According to Robin van Prattenburg, who took the initiative to raise funds for Frisians who wish to appeal, the sentences handed down by the judge too imposed. He says he understands why the blocking fiefs were sentenced by the judge, but believes that they were "attacked too hard" and were pilloried.

The initiator would prefer that all Frisians be acquitted, but he acknowledges that it is unlikely to happen. However, he hopes his action will give a signal. According to Van Prattenburg, the amount collected shows that "many Dutch are behind the action of french fries blockers".

The judges who handed down the decision on Friday were also strongly criticized. Some donors have spent hundreds of euros.

Money must be spent on court costs of the appeal. This will probably go mainly to the Frisian lawyers, the legal costs are only a few hundred euros. Van Prattenburg says that he has not yet discussed with Jenny Douwes and the other convicts about what to do with the money that remains.

Fries that block said they want to appeal, but it's not clear yet if they all do it. 34.
