NCD established on a poultry farm in Waregem

The Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (AFSCA) reports that a new case of Newcastle disease has been detected in a poultry farm from the municipality of Waregem In West Flanders, these infections add to the 16 infections reported since April 26th.

Around the company in Waregem, there is a radius area of ​​500 meters, a protection zone of 3 kilometers radius and a surveillance zone of a radius of 10 kilometers is delimited, in areas of 3 and 10 kilometers, it is forbidden to move all poultry and hatching eggs. All professional poultry farmers in these areas must submit an inventory of the company to FASFC. collections of poultry and birds, and in the area of ​​500 meters around the contamination, all poultry, both hobby and professional hutch holders and be vaccinated. At the same time, each hobby holder must also submit an inventory of their poultry to the municipality.

Since 2 July, general measures have already been imposed for all recreational poultry in Belgium. These existing measures remain in force until at least the end of this month. This concerns the prohibition of collection and prohibition of trade of these recreational birds with individuals. The situation in Villers-la-Ville, in Walloon Brabant, where amateur contamination was established on 22 June, has been resolved. This is why the various measures imposed on all poultry and bird lovers within a radius of 500 meters around the contamination have been removed from 18 July.
