Police Investigate the theft of firearms – NRC

In case of burglary in a place of justice in Zutphen, service weapons were stolen in the night from Sunday to Monday. The police do not yet know how many weapons are involved and investigation of the incident.

The flight took place between 23:00 and 03:00 in a section of the Transport & Support Department, the part of the judicial system responsible for transporting detainees. Other equipment has also been stolen, but the police do not want to give details on the loot.

The site is located on the edge of Zutphen in a business park. The weapons are normally stored in vaults. The police do not want to say if besides the burglary storage places were opened. However, according to a spokesman "damage has been done". Service weapons are registered, but the police are always busy with an inventory to determine exactly captured.

Police "troubled"

"We share the concern, it is serious and we work with all our power," answers the spokesman of the police. The detective performed trace searches and made recordings around the building with a drone. People who have seen something or who have cameras at home or in their business are called to report.

According to the Ministry of Justice and Security, the service has nineteen buildings of this type. These are used to store cars and other service items.
