Santeon Hospitals have reduced the average hospital stay by 17% due to primary hip arthroplasty due to several improvement initiatives.

This is one of the results of a year and a half of collaboration on improving the care of osteoarthritis of the hip. Professionals at seven Santeon hospitals began working together in 2016 to actively improve hip care

Living rules

An inventory has shown that patients' life rules after total hip replacement are sometimes unnecessarily restrictive. For example, patients had to lie on their backs for the first six weeks after the operation. After researching within the OLVG, it became apparent that the importance of this "backward period" had never been scientifically proven and this rule was abolished.

Earlier this year, Santeon shared the results of breast cancer care. Hospitals also work together on other conditions. For example, prostate cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, childbirth, lung cancer, kidney failure, colorectal cancer and stroke have also been established.
