In the Netherlands, some ten thousand scans are performed each year in children. The increased risk amounts to an additional brain tumor per year, written by Volkskrant . This is evidenced by research among more than 168,000 Dutch children, who received scans between 1979 and 2012.
The study is part of a larger European survey of a million or so. 39 children from eight European countries. The purpose of the study is to examine whether x-ray CT scans pose certain risks. According to De Volkskrant, these scans are becoming more and more popular, which is accompanied by questions about their possible consequences.

However, much of this group is exposed to a radiation dose much higher than the dose of a few CT scans. It is not known whether the results of this Japanese study can be simply converted. That's why it was decided to do more research.
