The first 42 students of VMBO Maastricht have passed

The first 42 students of VMBO Maastricht were informed on Wednesday that they were successful and can graduate. This was announced by the school. The Minister Ingrid van Engelshoven (Education, D66) informed the House of Representatives

Of the 42 successful students, there were 30 students who, after the additional examination of the external examination board, did not need any recovery tests. There were also eleven students who needed only a social re-enrollment on July 11th.

In recent weeks there was a lot of confusion about re-examinations of students. At first, some students were informed just before the test that they did not have to pass the civic education exam, but on Tuesday it appeared that 79 stu – dents did not have to pass the CKV test (cultural and artistic training). One of these students could graduate today.

Disability Examinations

Last month, the Education Inspection declared invalid all final exams of 354 VMBO Maastricht students. The majority had not been allowed to take a final exam because they had not completed their school exams. Later, Minister Arie Slob (Education, Christian Union) decided to extend the validity of the central exams to give the exam candidates time to catch up on certain topics.

Twenty students are already certain of having failed. The remaining students must reiterate other topics. They have time for this until the end of the year.
