The new Radboudumc computing firm can make the difference between life and death

NIJMEGEN –
The Radboudumc in Nijmegen made a successful test with a new computer cabinet for patients. The device software monitors the vital functions of patients and can prevent serious complications. And nurses and doctors will use the equipment on a larger scale.

Sixty patients carried the computer last year on their wrists. The device measures five vital functions: blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen uptake in the blood. As soon as something goes away, the computer sounds an alarm. And that can save lives according to the NOS of the lawsuit.

World Leader

Previously, nurses had to do the same measurements manually three times a day. This took a lot of time and it sometimes took longer before complications became apparent. Especially in the case of serious complications such as blood poisoning or pulmonary embolism, this time saving can make the difference between life and death. The software can also predict the course of a patient's illness.

Worldwide Radboudumc is one of the leaders in this field. The system has now been introduced in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Surgery
