The bankruptcy of the MC Slotervaart Hospital in Amsterdam West is not reversed, announced Thursday the court in Amsterdam. This rejects the resistance of a group of medical specialists.

On Wednesday, it was announced that a group of 46 medical specialists wanted to take over the hospital by hand. Medical specialists want to put 50,000 euros per person to resume MC Slotervaart.

According to the group of specialists, there is no question that the hospital is unable to meet its financial obligations. In addition, according to them, not only the financial aspect of the case should be taken into account, but also the social interest must be taken into account.

The court concludes that bankruptcy resistance is unfounded. On the basis of an explanation from the administrators, no other conclusion can be drawn than that that the hospital has actually stopped paying.

"There is no money left to deal with the running costs and the amount of debt is considerable," the court writes in an explanation of the decision.

The court does not include the social interest of the hospital in the decision. Bankruptcy can only be compared with the bankruptcy law. Under this law, only the financial situation of the debtor can be taken into account, and therefore not according to the public interest.
