Travel + Leisure reports that the same company that operates luxury glass-domed trains in western Canada, Rocky Mountaineer, plans to launch a new route from Denver to Moab starting in August 2021. The route, named Rockies at the Red Rocks, will last two days with an overnight stay in a hotel in Glenwood Springs.
The train ride focuses on great views in glass domed trains with outdoor observation decks, gourmet dining, and exceptional service while handing over sleeping arrangements – leaving that to the Glenwood Springs hotel.
“Rocky Mountaineer will be offering a new luxury train tour to explore the historic Denver-Moab rail route. Over the past 30 years, Rocky Mountaineer has become renowned for their world class train travel experiences, and now we are opening our new train experience to the region where the history of train travel began, ”said Peter Armstrong, founder of Rocky Mountaineer. “This region, with its magnificent landscapes, its national parks, its vast opportunities to explore, will delight millions of people.

The two-day trip starts at $ 1,250 per person and there appear to be two classes of travel for existing trains in the Rocky Mountaineer route network: Silver Leaf and Gold Leaf. It is not clear on the website whether both will be available on the new route. Rocky Mountaneer currently operates three routes in Western Canada between Vancouver and the Canadian Rocky Mountain towns of Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper.
