Not all heroes wear capes – some are covered in scales from head to toe, like the main character in the new indie folk-rock musical “Lizard Boy,” which premieres Thursday through Friday the 7th. -October 8 and opens Saturday, October 9 to October 31 at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley in Mountain View. “Lizard Boy” opens the company’s 51st season.

The show is based on the comics story of Trevor, the title lizard boy, who is covered in scales due to a freak childhood accident.

Trevor is kind but also a bit of a recluse, though he eventually gets over his shyness to go out with charming town newcomer Cary.

Talk about a memorable first date: it turns into a mythological journey that just might end up saving the world.

Playwright / songwriter Justin Huertas created “Lizard Boy” and plays Trevor. He is joined on stage by William A. Williams as the charismatic Cary and Kirsten “Kiki” from Lohr Helland as the evil Siren, whose voice haunts Trevor’s dreams.
