TUCSON (KVOA) – Pima County is switching to a new system for its COVID-19 vaccination registration helpline.

The new phone number is 520-222-0119.

The old number (520-594-5684) will no longer be staffed, Pima County said.

The new issue will be endowed this weekend and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, Jan. 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Regular hours for the extended helpline will be Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Kathryn Saunders has been struggling to get a date for over 48 hours. Mark Evans of Pima County says they are trying to fix the issues.

“The call volume was much higher than expected, the normal system was unable to handle the load, so there was a lot of trouble getting online,” Evans said.

The county is asking people to register online. Saunders does not have a computer, email, or even Internet access. Evans said it was a whole different challenge.

“For people who don’t have a computer or email, we don’t have a solution for them to get the shot. You will need a capacity for you to get an alert,” Evans said. .

Evans told News 4 Tucson that they are working to make walk-in visits available once there are enough vaccines.
