New Star Wars announcement after Mandalorian season finale [SPOILER]

We won’t tell you how The Mandalorian the season finale ended in this article. But there was a big announcement afterwards (via SuperHeroHype). The only thing messed up here will be that one of the characters definitely isn’t dead and is getting a spin-off. By process of elimination, it may already be possible to guess. But turn away now if you don’t want to know.

Okay. It’s Boba Fett. Certainly not surprising. After a post-credits scene focused on the fate of the popular bounty hunter, a fade to black and on-screen text announced Boba Fett’s book coming in December 2021. Now: is it a movie? A Disney + series? Maybe even the top-secret Taika Waititi movie that Disney recently announced? At the moment, all we know is the title. But it can be assumed that Fennec Shand, now indebted for saving his life, will also be involved.

Boba Fett’s spin-offs have been tried out by Lucasfilm a number of times, but never quite hit production. When Lucasfilm first announced a live-action TV series under George Lucas, Fett should have been a part of it. This one never happened because the technology and the budget never really worked. Then when Star wars derivative films like Rogue One were first announced, Josh Trank intended to make a Boba-centric film. This did not happen after Trank’s struggles with The Fantastic Four became public. At the time, Michael Fassbender was a household name for playing the bounty hunter.

But now Lucasfilm has a live Boba Fett that everyone seems to agree with. And while we won’t spoil this final scene, it leaves the character in a prime position for a new story.
