SLO County Reports 191 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 More Deaths

San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of three other people who tested positive for COVID-19.

Health officials say one of the patients was 80, 90 and over 100. All three had underlying health issues.

San Luis Obispo County also added 191 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total to 8,460 confirmed cases as of December 18.

Thirty-five people are hospitalized, including eight patients in intensive care. Another 1,651 people are recovering at home and health officials say 6,706 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had 59 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

  • Arroyo Grande – 589
  • Nipomo – 585
  • California Men’s Colony (inmates) – 472
  • Grover Beach – 325
  • Ocean – 273
  • Templeton – 267
  • San Miguel – 259
  • Cal Poly (campus residents) – 256
  • Bears – 157
  • Morro Bay – 148
  • Pismo Beach – 128
  • Shandon – 78
  • Saint Margaret – 68
  • Cambria – 59
  • Creston – 39
  • Cayucos – 31
  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 28
  • Avila Beach – 13
  • San Simeon – 7

The location of an additional 25 cases is under investigation, and another 10 are listed as “other”, which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach, and Nipomo.
